In addition to its traditional exports of sugar, citrus fruit, cigars and coffee, Cuba has significant mineral resources including the world’s second largest reserves of nickel. Cuba also has significant deposits of cobalt, iron, copper, chromite, manganese, zinc, and tungsten. Cuba's oil deposits are still being explored and represent a large opportunity for some oil companies.

In addition to its exports, Cuba is a large importer

of both manufactured goods and commodities.

Beyond its traditional markets the Cuban economy is set to expand in a range of fields including food, telecommunications and tourism.
